Case Study: Tröstisarwww.trostisar.com

Client: Tröstisar AB

My role: Art Director, Designer, Illustrator.

What: Logo, character design, business cards, product design, website (teaser version and final version, an interactive “Tröstis”-experience site also in the plans!), package design, and more coming.

Challenge: Create characters and a world that expresses comfort and magic – a world with no fear and where comforting someone or asking someone for comfort is light and joy filled. The characters needed to work both in a simpler shape for product development, and a little bit more complex shape for package design, web site and other implementations.

Result: A magic world where the stars always shine :). A day world and a night world, that can be used for night and day related children´s products separately, or in other contexts fading into each other. Loving characters of different animals that together form a family unit with no specified ties or relations, who leave things open for endless stories to build upon in the future or through the imagination of whoever encounters them through digital media or the products themselves.

Inspiration: The “tröstis”-qualities of my client Shama, my own fears and my own joy, Tove Jansson´s “Who will comfort Toffle”, Ulf Löfgrens “Det underbara trädet”, Japanese manga, Buddhist and Indian paintings, Forrest Gump, Muslim architecture, Paul Frank, and much more.
