Client: Streckgubben/Stick Dude
My role: Art Director, Designer, Illustrator, Copywriter, Communication Strategist, Project Manager.
What: Logo, website, copywriting, sticker business cards.
Challenge: Finding the language, the visual expression and the right form to express the playfulness, naivety and joy that is the vision behind Stick Dude – a stick figure in steel covered with glass hearts, that is sold as exclusive art pieces in different sizes as well as brought around and used in spontaneous public installations.
The web presence needed to communicate both the values behind Stick Dude, introduce the product itself, and invite the public to take part in Stick Dude´s journeys in Sweden and later on abroad.
Result: A logo that is fun, speaks loudly and that borrows its shape from “travel stickers” to convey the mobile aspect of Stick Dude. A website that through animations, colors, shapes, and random objects and creatures pasted on top of Sergels Torg invites the user in to an unfolding world of fun and playfulness that follows Stick Dude around wherever he goes. A clear distinction between the website and Facebook in terms of function – the website is there to share “Stick World” as well as offer an overview of the products and general information, and Facebook is there as a forum for the ongoing art project where Satya and whoever has a copy of Stick Dude brings him around and photographs him in different environments.
Inspiration: Satya (the creator of Stick Dude), comic books, www.tracychapman.com, www.robyn.com, www.jenstark.com, Friends with you, book with Japanese Music Graphics, neen art movement, www.nopattern.com.
